ROBERT ARMSTRONG
Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) has become increasingly more important with the value of GSCM activities rarely disputed but literature has been sparse on the tangible evidence regarding performance and competitiveness improvements. This led to Supply Chain Logistics Association of Canada (SCL) to partner with Industry Canada to examine this important business function. SCL released the results of research on GSCM in 3 areas:

  • Logistics & Transportation Services
  • Retail and Consumer Products
  • Manufacturing

These reports provide a unique analysis to help Canadian supply chain managers and decision makers understand the current trends and the benefits of adopting GSCM practices to improve business competitiveness. Bob Armstrong, President of SCL will outline highlights of the Reports that review the importance and use of GSCM practices by businesses; the internal and external pressures involved in adopting GSCM practices; the specific GSCM strategies that businesses use and competitive advantages that Best -In-Class manufacturers receive.

Bob Armstrong will outline specific examples of what trucking companies, retailers, manufacturers and warehouse operators have been accomplishing in the past year and a half on specific GSCM initiatives.
